Zimmer Elected to North American YMCA Development Organization Board

Nick Zimmer

Nick Zimmer, Executive Director of the Montgomery County Family YMCA, has been elected to serve on a three-year Board of Director's term to the North American YMCA Development Organization. The NAYDO mission is to "strengthen the YMCA financial development and support the integration of philanthropy into all aspects of YMCA work in North America.” The NAYDO membership statement is, ”Members of NAYDO represent a collective body of YMCA professionals and associations who are committed to the advancement of philanthropy through the organization's mission, on going principles and proven practices.”

Zimmer has been the Executive Director of the Montgomery County Family YMCA for 13 of his 21 years of professional service to the YMCA. Zimmer has been a part of a $6.6 million dollar capital campaign effort with dedicated volunteers and staff to build a full-facility YMCA for Montgomery County and southwest Iowa. The Montgomery County Family YMCA association has an annual general operational budget of $550,000.

The Montgomery County Family YMCA also manages, with elected endowment trustees, a one million dollar endowment program. The earned income from this program is used to help operate the YMCA and to continue to offer a variety of services to members and guests of the YMCA. The endowment program is a great program for YMCA supporters who want to create a promising today and a brighter tomorrow for children, families, and the community/area. Zimmer works closely with dedicated volunteers with the YMCA's "Membership for Everyone" campaign, which is designed for children, adults, and families who wish to belong to the YMCA or participate in YMCA programs, but are experiencing financial limitations. The 2008 campaign goal has been set for $ 34,000 for the "Membership for Everyone" campaign.

Zimmer will be representing small association YMCAs on the NAYDO board of directors and with boards of directors throughout the United States and Canada.
