NICK ZIMMER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Nick Zimmer was born in Delta, Colorado and grew up in Nebraska.  He graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne, Nebraska in 1981.  He graduated from Wayne State College in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science with Broadcasting Communications and Community Recreation Degree.   

1985 – 1986—Recreation Specialist, St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain South Dakota

1986 – 1987—Program Director at Fremont Family YMCA, Fremont NE

1987—Metro Program Director, El Paso, TX YMCA

1988 – 1990—Sr. Program Director of Fremont Family YMCA, Fremont NE

1990 – 1995—Executive Director of Niles-Buchanan Family YMCA, Niles, MI

1995 – Present—Executive Director of Montgomery County Family YMCA.

Nick is married to Nancy Coughlin-Zimmer.  Nick met Nancy during her YMCA Board of Directors term and was one of the first Presidents of our YMCA in 1999.  Nick enjoys tennis, basketball, golf, running, swimming, watching high school athletics, officiating basketball games, and is an all around Nebraska Husker Fan!

JOHN BLOMSTEDT, PROGRAM OPERATIONS MANAGER

John grew up in Ralston, NE, graduating from high school in 1977. He then attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE, graduating in May 1981. (He met his wife, Debi, in college and they were married in December 1981.) He lived and worked in Fremont and Omaha before moving to Red Oak in 1987.

John started as full-time Program Director in February 2000 and is currently the Program Operations Manager. He oversees the youth and adult sports programs, the health/wellness area, tennis center programs, different general programs, plus acting as a backup with bookkeeping duties.

His wife, Deb, teaches science at the Red Oak High School, and they have three children, J.C. (who lives in Omaha), Arryn (attending the University of Northern Iowa), and Grace (elementary student). John’s hobbies include playing tennis, basketball, golf, and refereeing high school basketball games. His family enjoys living in the Red Oak & Montgomery County area.

PAT GILLILAND, CUSTOMER SERVICE REP.

Pat Gilliland lives in Stanton, with her husband, Jerry.  He is a retired schoolteacher and is now the computer coordinator at the Stanton Schools and the Stanton City Librarian.  They have three children, Toby, Monte and Traci and 10 grandchildren, which they enjoy very much!

Pat started out as a volunteer when the YMCA was just a storefront operation on 4th Street.  Pat has worked the last two years full time as the Front Desk Manager.  She really likes her position.  She has gotten to know lots of interesting people that she would have not have gotten acquainted with if not for her job.  Pat has also traveled to Chicago and New Orleans for YMCA meetings along with many other YMCA events.

Pat is also the volunteer coordinator for the YMCA.  Volunteers are very special here at the YMCA.

Todd Gilliland, Maintenance/ Property Manager

Todd is the Property Manager at the YMCA. He is in charge of all maintenance of the YMCA facility and surrounding grounds. Todd and his staff do a fantastic job keeping our top-notch facility in proper working order. He became Property Manager in April of 2004.

Todd grew up in this area and graduated from Stanton High School in 2000.

This year, Todd has attained his CPO certification as well as Red Cross CPR.

 

Phil Lamb, Aquatics/Youth Sports Director

 

 

Phil graduated from Red Oak High School in 1982, and then attended Universal Technical Institute in Omaha, Nebraska.  He started working with Douglas & Lomason (Romech) and worked 24 years in many positions.  Phil spent the last 12 years as the Systems Administrator before the facility was closed in 2007.

 

Phil is married to Traci who is currently attending Southwestern Community College in Creston for nursing and will finish her RN year at the Red Oak campus in 2009.  They have two daughters: Kelsey, who is a freshman at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Kourtney, who is a sophomore at Red Oak High School.

 

Phil is currently on the Red Oak Park & Tree Board, and has served on the Red Oak Tag-A-Longs as a board member and as co-president with Traci.  Phil has been active with the youth sports programs both as a coach and as a program administrator.  Current activities include running, bicycling, swimming, racquetball, tennis, basketball, music, and motorcycles.  He also enjoys spending time with his family at the Lake of the Ozarks.
