YMCA Receives $5,000 Grant
Nick Zimmer, Executive
Director of the Montgomery County Family YMCA, proudly announces that the YMCA
is a recipient of a $5,000 Schildberg Foundation Grant. The YMCA was notified
this week of this very generous gift that the YMCA is going to utilize to bring
security cameras into the Y. This Grant along with the Endowment Funds of
Southwest Iowa HF2302 Common Grant that recently awarded the YMCA $2,937.55
will allow the YMCA to pursue the cameras.
The Schildberg
Construction Company of Greenfield, Iowa was founded in 1936 by a great husband
and wife team, E. F. and Sylvia Schildberg. The couple valued hard work,
honesty, loyalty, and a desire to help others. The company prospered over the
years, and the life of employees along with customers grew. E. F. and Sylvia
always gave a great share of credit for their success to these employees and
customers.
On September 30th,
1986, fifty years after the founding of the Schildberg Construction Company,
the Schildberg Foundation was created by Sylvia Schildberg as an expression of
appreciation to the people of this area. The purpose of the Foundation is to
give financial assistance to non-profit, charitable, educational or other
causes that better the human condition and encourage community betterment. It
was the hope of Sylvia that in helping others the ultimate reward would be for
that same dedication to be passed on to future generations.
The security cameras
will enhance the YMCA's needs for health and safety for our members and guests
located in key areas of our nearly 71,000 square foot facility and also in
aiding as a deterrent for anyone considering to not follow YMCA facility
policy, respect of the facility, of others and their personal belongings.
Now with these funds the YMCA is excited about getting this
project accomplished!
