      Nestled in beautiful wooded land, our 214 acre facility has more opportunities than one could imagine.  In the summer months, Camp Foster has more than 80 years of proud tradition, hosting over 1,300 youth resident campers.  In the fall, winter, and spring we host various groups, such as youth retreats, business training, family reunions, outdoor education, staff training, the list is endless!  Camp Foster provided a beautiful environment free of the fast paced office and city, but also cost efficient housing, food service, and programming year round.  Along with our unique facility the Camp Foster staff is highly trained and eager to work hand-in-hand with your group to provide quality programs that fit your needs and help accomplish your goals.  For a new brochure, please stop by the Montgomery County Family YMCA in Red Oak, Iowa located @ 101 East Cherry Street  and pick one up at the Customer Service Desk.

  Jr. High Fitness Class Graduates!
The Montgomery County Family YMCA is pleased to announce the latest graduate of its Jr. High Fitness Class. The Jr. High Fitness Class teaches 6th-8th graders, (whom are too young to be in the Health and Wellness Center without completion of the course) the proper use of the equipment, technique, and breathing to benefit their training.  Class participants must show responsibility to be on time for each class & willingness to participate during class to meet class requirements. Upon completion of the class, successful participants are able to use the Health & Wellness Center with an adult accompanying them.   On Monday, July 12th, 2010, the Montgomery County Family YMCA received a $1,000 Blue Sky Involve grant from Johnson Controls of Red Oak, Iowa to help fund the 2010 very popular and very successful Montgomery County Family YMCA’s Summer Day Camp.

The YMCA’s summer day camp was offered for are children for six weeks during June and July from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Weekly the camps had up to 16 campers some weeks (children entering grades 1st – 5th grade) attend camp.

The 2010 Summer Y camp was under the outstanding leadership of Arryn Blomstedt and Kelsey Hollen. Both Blomstedt and Hollen are graduates of Red Oak High School and attend the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Children were treated daily to physical activities, snacks, arts & crafts, swmming, free hot lunch program through the Red Oak Community Schools summer hot lunch program, picnics, learning about going green/environmental education as well,  play time in the Y’s gym and outdoor playgrounds.  The YMCA plans to offer this program in the summer of 2011,please watch for information in the spring of 2011 for the YMCA’s award winning Summer Day Camp program. The Y would also like to thank all if it’s many other donors and business partners for making the Y summer camp in 2010 the best ever!
